Fleet Maintenance

Martinsville's garage employees keep a rolling fleet of over 300 vehicles rolling to serve the citizens, business and industries of the city.

The garage employs 11 people, including nine mechanics and technicians who service everything from police cars to road graders, from electric bucket trucks to Bobcats, from snow plows to lawnmowers, from tractors to street sweepers.

The garage maintains the city's diesel and gasoline supplies, feeding the fleet with 10,000 gallons of fuel per month.

The garage is located on Fishel Street, off Brookdale, adjoining the warehouse. The city also maintains the school bus garage on Moss Street. Contact the garage at 276-403-5357.

Lane Shively  manages the garage with the assistance of Shop Supervisor, Steve Cannaday and Office & Parts Assistant Rhonda Gregory. Typical operations hours are from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., with winter hours adjusted according to weather emergency maintenance needs.

The garage is a popular tour site for area day care centers and school groups.
