Purchasing Department
The Purchasing Department coordinates the procurement of materials, equipment and services, and is under the direction of Karen Mays, Purchasing Agent and Robin Legus, Purchasing Technician. This division is responsible for making authorized purchases, performing related purchasing functions, including securing of bids with recommendations for acceptance or rejection, and awarding bids according to established policies. The Purchasing Dept. is responsible for the centralized control and disposal of excess, obsolete and salvageable materials and equipment, the procurement of materials, supplies, services and equipment for all City Departments. Purchasing Agent Karen Mays and Purchasing Technician Robin Legus work to keep vendors informed of bids. The Purchasing Department also maintains a Store operation at the Central Warehouse to keep supplies on hand to facilitate the day-today operations of departments and is under the direction of Joyce Jackson, Inventory Control Specialist, at 276-403-5352. The Purchasing Department has an Administrative Office Associate, Andrea Ward, and can be reached at 276-403-5350.
