Martinsville Planning, Housing & Zoning Manager Wayne Knox points out pre-development plans at Academy Place in 2002. The development is now fully underway, one of the many major projects undertaken by the city Community Development Office.

Zoning

Zoning provides the backbone and master plan for Martinsville's overall development. The city's zoning overlay features 16 different types of zoning, most with sub-types used to classify permitted uses.

Proper zoning, supervised and endorsed by the Planning Commission in accord with the city's master development plan, maintains distinct residential, commercial and industrial zones and comfortable buffers between those zones. Contact Wayne Knox at 276-403-5173.
